Dr. Hartman’s Retirement Announcement

After 39 years of providing eye care, Dr. Rick Hartman will be officially retiring from optometric primary care in December. Dr. Hartman joined Johnson Optometric Associates, PA in 1979, after serving two years active duty as a Navy Optometrist, and practicing one year with Low Vision Specialist, Dr. Howard Lewis in Durham, NC. He continued his friendship with Dr. Bob Johnson from their classmate days in Optometry School in Philadelphia and welcomed the opportunity to join him and his father in their practice. In 1981, he was instrumental in establishing our Garner Office and after several years as an associate, became a full partner. He has truly enjoyed taking care of his patients and has considered it a privilege to have maintained their trust.  In many cases, he cared for several generations of patients in both the Garner and Fuquay-Varina offices.
In 2019, Dr. Hartman will be available to the Doctors and Staff of Johnson Optometric on an advisory basis if needed. He plans to promote and provide Low Vision Services by referral only to our partially-sighted and visually-impaired community.

We want to express our appreciation for the years of service and leadership that he has provided in patient care, and in maintaining and growing a busy optometric practice. We also want to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated patients and friends for their continued support over the years. We will make every effort to make the transition of your care to the other doctors our number one priority. All of your records will remain here and available to the doctor continuing with your eye care. Please feel free to contact our staff in either office if you have questions or concerns. We will be glad to assist in every way possible.
